Selina Stoane is a Scandinavian recording artist, actress, dancer and model based in New York City. She is also the creator and CEO of the New York Insider enterprise which just launched it’s first product: an app (New York Insider) that can be found in the iTunes store and Google Play. Born in Norway, she moved to Manhattan at the age of 18 to follow her passion for music as a dancer in musical theatre. While attending one of the city’s musical theatre colleges on the West Side, Stoane discovered her talent for singing and songwriting which resulted in a landslide of distinctive demos. After recording and publishing her own material, as well as performing gigs all over town, she sparked the interest of top industry professionals. Collaborations with Italian duo Spankers followed,and Selina landed her first single/publishing deal for the dance track ‘You’ which can be found on the Spankers 365 album launched worldwide. Selina is currently recording new material for her club performances in New York in 2013, and attending The New School in New York completing her BFA in drama.
Selina’s music is greatly influenced by her love of life & creativity, and her background as a dancer living in New York. She is inspired by events and people in her own life.
As a dancer, Selina was mentored by Rachelle Rak, and very impacted by the style of Sheryl Murakami. She is a trained actress, and will hold a BFA in drama by the end of 2013. Her experience with all aspects of performing – dance and drama in addition to her greatest love; creating music – allows Selina to uncover fat beats, cool melodies + harmonies and accents, while telling a story with presence. She is very grateful for all the fantastic opportunities and all the fierce people that has come her way. The incredible energy and people of New York City continues to inspire, and humble Selina every day.
