Shiny Joe Ryan is a weird mixture of genres - its country, pop and rock, all mangled and mashed into something new and strange and tender after incubating inside the eccentric mass of hair and ideas that is the head of Joe Ryan (Pond, Mink Mussel Creek). Joe recorded the album, 'The Cosmic Microwave Background', alone in his grotty Berlin apartment in 2011, later enlisting the help of friends like Steve Summerlin (Mink Mussel Creek), bassist Ben McDonald (Sugarpuss/ Sonpsilo Circus) and Nick Allbrook (Mink Mussel Creek/ Pond) who played some badass drums. The live band contains some amazing Perth musicians including Cam Avery (The Growl/ Pond), Peter Bibby (best solo act ever) and Bobby Burgess (The Scotch of Saint James/ Naked News). 'The Cosmic Microwave Background' is a heart rending journey of interstellar innocence, staggering like a ketamine invalid and sailing like a rocket. The album will be available soon for y'all. Dig.
