来自法国的金属乐队Mylidian把自己的风格形容为黑暗金属歌剧，这只五人乐队早在1993年就成立，随后的数年间不仅乐队阵容几经变换，而且还使用过多个不同的名字。直到2001年12月，乐队才形成一套比较稳定的阵容，名字也最终确定为Mylidian。事实上Mylidian有着特别的含义，来源于Harmanide公司开发的一款角色扮演游戏，而乐队今年发行的首张作品便是以这款游戏为蓝本。这张概念专辑请来了著名的制作人Didier Chesneau，此人曾经为诸多大牌乐队担任过制作。同时还邀请了很多的嘉宾参与到音乐中，这其中既有歌手又有乐手。当然，专辑的概念依然来自于Harmanide所发行的这款游戏，而Mylidian非常另类地用金属的方式来诠释，最为乐队所津津乐道的便是唱诗班的使用，他们很自豪地拿来与Rhapsody、Dimmu Borgir和Therion这样的知名乐队作比较。事实上乐队成员都有着自己的工作，像Elisabeth Bardel便是一位老师，在巴黎的一所音乐学校教授古典唱法，队中成员除了鼓手Franck Lesellier是86年出生以外，其它成员基本上都是70年代末80年代初出生。  
 
以黑暗金属歌剧为特色的Mylidian的音乐有别于其它任何乐队，在接受采访时乐队坦言他们是Rhapsody、Dimmu Borgir和Therion的忠实歌迷，但这并不意味着Mylidian的音乐是把这几种不同风格简单拼凑到一起，相反乐队在吸收容纳的同时创作出属于自己的音乐特色，而这就是Birth Of The Prophet所要呈现给听众的。 
 
Mylidian is made up of 5 musicians. Since its formation in 1993, the band has been through different line-ups and has used different names. In December 2001, the band managed to find a stable line-up under the name of Mylidian. This name comes from a role playing game (RPG) that the Harmanide company created. All Mylidian's lyrics are about this cyber-gothic universe ; besides it is this concept that mainly makes Mylidian so special. 
 
The band recorded a concept album based on this universe. It's a Dark Metal Opera album produced by Didier Chesneau (Headline, At Vance, Evergrey, SymphonyX, Vanden Plas, Magic Kingdom, Iron Mask, In Victus, Misanthrope, Oliver Hartmann, Robert Kohlmeyer, LMP, NTS, Lion Music, Anvil Corp…) with choirs in the vein of THERION (a choir of fifty people) and orchestrations in the vein of DIMMU BORGIR, BLIND GUARDIAN or RHAPSODY. 
"Birth of the Prophet" is the first album of a dramatic trilogy called "Rise of the Cursed Son". 
 
It is important to note that this first album contains many different vocal tones, a classical choir, many orchestral arrangements as well as a story involving different characters. It is more than a concept album, “Birth of the prophet” is a real Dark Metal Opera. 
 
The band put a lot of time and effort in creating a musical trilogy based on role playing scenarios. The book containing the rules of the game is supposed to be released in 2006. 
 
Mylidian's unique association of a Dark Metal Opera with a cyber-gothic RPG makes the band instantly recognizable.
