As background stories go, they don’t come any more inspiring than 24 year old Aquile from San Diego. The singer and guitarist told Carson Daly on The Voice that when he was 19, he was punched in the face so hard his jaw was broken. So badly, in fact, that Aquile had his jaws wired shut for six weeks to allow them to heal. That’s a pretty awful thing to happen to anyone. 
 
But mercifully, Aquile saw the ‘blessing’ in having his mouth wired shut, and even played gigs while he was recovering. Carson, ever the pop culture connoisseur, recognizes that the same thing happened to Kanye West, inspiring him to write the song Through The Wire. 
 
In a strange twist, Aquile chooses to sing the classic Elton John song Your Song. His smooth, soulful vocals prompt Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera to push their buttons simultaneously. He croons the song with a slightly smoky tone in his voice, but he also elegantly handles the higher notes toward the end, and Cee Lo spins his chair around before the song closes.
